ABOUT CAMILLA YRURE, CPM LM

I live in Alexandria Virginia with my partner, two young children, rescued manx and Australian Shepherds. When not traveling I love being active outdoors, hosting couch surfers, and exploring all that the DC area has to offer.

I live in Alexandria Virginia with my partner, two young children, rescued manx and Australian Shepherds. When not traveling I love being active outdoors, hosting couch surfers, and exploring all that the DC area has to offer.

I am passionate about providing individualized continuity of care and serving families in the DC area! My work is foundational in consent, and unique to each individual. I am honored to work with the metropolitan families and faiths of the district maryland and virginia. I serve families of different styles and structures, I love babies and I love families! Birth Work, midwifery, and advocacy is my full time job and I am committed to continuing my education and yielding evidence based care. I came into midwifery with the belief that reproductive autonomy is a human right. I am passionate about providing access of choice as I support families through the childbearing year. I really trust bodies, and trust that people know what is best for themselves and their own bodies and families. The more I am around the strength of families through hardship and loss or the wisdom of the process and that of each baby, birth, or pregnancy, the more purposeful and determined I become about providing a safe comfortable environment so one can truly experience the process in becoming parents, be it their first or fifth time. This process has so much beautiful potential and I see myself as a facilitator, helping you give birth to yourself throughout the entire experience of pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. Birth is beautiful, profoundly dynamic, messy, healing and transformative and I am blessed to call this my job!

I am a Certified Professional Midwife with The North American Registry of Midwifes and am licensed in Virginia, with hundreds of births and documented clinical hours. In a former life I worked as a government contractor in technical writing and code, with educational training in soil chemistry and development studies. My midwifery education has been mixed and directly under CNMs (Nurse Midwives) and CPMs in various settings, states, and countries. I began as an apprentice and student midwife under my own midwife's practice TLCBIRTH, then continued on to Northern Virginia Midwifery, MamaBaby Haiti, clinical student under the not for profit Manassas Midwives, and happily integrated in to a birth center as staff student midwife for The NOVA Natural birth center in Chantilly, VA. I am a professional member of the state midwifery groups - The Virginia Midwives Alliance and The Colorado Midwives Alliance and keep my membership active with The Midwives Alliance of North America, ICTC, DC Doulas for Choice, and NACPM. I am blessed to serve the community in the manner in which I was served as an expectant parent giving birth and as a young professional seeking education in gynecological care. I serve families in the Northern Virginia and Washington DC area.
